About Kevin M. O'Connor
Job History:
My name is Kevin M. O'Connor and I am in the process of obtaining a baccalaureate from Western Illinois University in the field of Law Enforcement and Political Science. I have been involved with movements for peace, labor, justice, the environment, and independent progressive politics for years. Currently, I am an active member of Near West Citizens for Peace & Justice, Campus Greens, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Young Irish Fellowship Club. I am also the Proviso Township Green Party Committeeperson and the endorsed Green Party candidate Illinois Green Party candidate for State Representative of the 41st District (which contains parts of Riverside, North Riverside, Brookfield, LaGrange Park, Westchester, Berkeley, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, Broadview, Western Springs, Elmhurst, Northlake, Villa Park, Lombard, Downers Grove, Westmont, and Hinsdale).
Important Issues:
Improving Transportation - Reinvestment in our mass transit system
Protecting Our Homeland - Bringing our National Guard Troops home
Ethics and Electoral Reform - Give power back to The People
Renewable Energy - Kick the 'energy hogging' habit
Why Vote For Me:
I am seeking public office in order to challenge the complacent and stagnant political environment of Illinois. The General Assembly is nearly void of leadership and requires an adjustment in composition. This state is in drastic need for change and I hope to provide the solutions to major problems we are currently facing. I also feel that corporate influence has put a stranglehold on democracy throughout the state, which is why I will REFUSE ALL CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS!
Thank you.
Candidates who are running as endorsed greens or running non-partisan campaigns that are supported by the Green Party, from local to national office, may have a free web site through this page. Green and Green-friendly campaigns that already have a web site, may still be listed in our directory with a link to their official election site. Green candidates with little or no campaign budgets and no technical support can still have their qualifications, issues, and contact information available online.
