 | John has been an activist in the fight for social justice for the past 40 years. He has been an organizer of the anti-war movement, the fight for immigrant rights, for educational reform and the numerous campaigns for civil and human rights.
For the past 20 years he has been a teacher and educator in the Portland public schools, Portland community college and Portland state university

| Important Issues: |
| The four central themes of my campaign are:
1) Bring all U.S. Troops home now - not one more cent for war.
2) Social justice – defend the rights of all to live in the U.S. free of harassment, racist attacks and threats of deportation. No one is illegal or alien.
3) Defend the needs of working people - Everyone has a right to a job, to a free education and health care. End the rule of corporations over the government and our livelihood.
4) Stop the destruction of the environment - For a massive federal program mandating industry end it’sollution of our air, water and soil. Global warming means that business as usual is no longer possible.

| Why Vote For Me: |
| This country has been ruled by the two party monopoly on power for the past century. Both parties are financed by corporations and the very rich and that funding buys them the rule that they desire. The overwhelming majority are left out in the cold.
After the horrors of the Bush years many may hold out hope that the Democrats will be a real alternative. The overwhelming majority of the damage done from war to attacks on democratic rights came with the votes of the Democrats in Washington.
It is time for the building of a party that can be the voice of the majority to fight for out interests. Then we have a chance for real change.
