| Military Funding
The military-industrial complex has been a constant threat to America for more than 50 years. It makes it easier for America to commit itself to wars of choice, such as Vietnam and Iraq, and it sets an adversarial tone to our relations with the rest of the world. I want to cut hundreds of billions of dollars off the yearly defense budget and drastically scale back the size of our military. We would fund our military at a cost of 10 percent more than our nearest rival (currently China), in order to protect ourselves, but we would also free up hundreds of billions of dollars to help close the deficit and concentrate our tax dollars into education, health care, infrastructure, foreign aid and other priorities. |
