Accountability.
It appears that neither of my opponents decided to take the political courage test from VoteSmart.org. It wasn't required, but I decided to go ahead and take it because I don't mind being honest and accountable for my stand on the issues.
Technically I'm not supposed to use the bio page or results in any sort of campaigning, but since this isn't campaigning I'm going to post the link here.
Also, I'm trying to get as many people as I can from Russellville/Pope County to add my myspace. If you know anyone in this area could you encourage them to add the page? Please?
Before I had children I worked as a CNA, in long term care facilities. I took a few years off to be able to stay home with my children, but now that they are off to school I work full time in the restaurant industry and I work weekends for Friendship Community Care. FCC is a non profit (501c3), established to provide care for the developmentally handicapped. Helping people has always been my passion, and I believe that every capable person should do something daily to brighten the lives of someone else.
Important Issues:
I firmly believe in the Green 10 key values:
Grassroots Democracy
The powerless suffer the most from resource depletion and toxic pollution. Greens believe in direct participation by all people in the environmental, political, and economic decisions that affect their lives.
Ecological Wisdom
The Greens recognize that the Earth sustains all life processes. Green ecology moves beyond environmentalism by understanding the common roots of the abuse of nature and the abuse of people. Whatever we do to the web of life, we do to ourselves.
Social Justice and Equal Opportunity
Greens want to replace the worldwide system of poverty and injustice with a world free of all oppression.
Nonviolence
Greens reject violence as a way of settling disputes. It is shortsighted, morally wrong, and ultimately self-defeating. We are working to create a world where war is obsolete.
Decentralization
Power and responsibility must be restored to local communities within an overall framework of ecologically sound and socially just values and lifestyles.
Community-based Economics
Greens seek a new economics based upon the natural limits of the Earth, which meets the basic needs of everyone on the planet, under democratic, localized community control.
Feminism
The Green movement is profoundly inspired by feminist values. The ethics of cooperation and understanding must replace the values of domination and control over others.
Respect for Diversity
Greens honor the biological diversity of the Earth and the cultural, sexual and spiritual diversity of Earth's people. We aim to reclaim this country's finest ideals; popular democracy, the dignity of the individual, and liberty and justice for all.
Personal and Global Responsibility
Greens demonstrate a commitment to global sustainability and international justice through political solidarity, and in personal lifestyles, based on sufficiency and living lightly.
Future Focus and Sustainability
Like the Iroquois, Greens seek a society where the interests of the seventh generation are considered equal to the interests of the present. We must reclaim the future for our children and ourselves.
Why Vote For Me:
My name is Mary Boley, I am an Arkansas Green Party candidate running for State Representative in district 68. (Russellville, Pope County) I have a passion for activism and strongly believe in grassroots democracy and social justice. I'm native to the 'Natural State' and it is my goal to preserve democracy and restore some power to the residents of Arkansas. As a legislator, I will look at creative ways to meet the demands of the public. Times of crisis often require ingenuity. The Arkansas Legislature needs ingenuity now, and the people of this district will be best served by progressive legislation that ensures access to high quality state services. As a Green Party candidate, I bring fresh perspectives and emphasize the role of the citizen as crucial in constructing innovative and effective legislation.
Candidates who are running as endorsed Greens or running non-partisan campaigns that are supported by the Green Party, from local to national office, may have a free web site through this page. Green and Green-friendly campaigns that already have a web site, may still be listed in our directory with a link to their official election site. Green candidates with little or no campaign budgets and no technical support can still have their qualifications, issues, and contact information available online.
