| Important Issues: | |
| America needs Ed Lindsay:
"Like all Green Party candidates, I do not believe in borrowing money to run government. I am a fiscal conservative who supports individual rights, protection of Social Security and Medicare, balanced budgets, reduction of the Federal Debt and closing corporate loopholes. Corporations by law are "individuals" and should be treated as such with no special considerations. I am upset with your career congressmen for allowing over 60 percent of American corporations to pay ZERO income taxes for several years now. Is it any wonder that we have a $16 trillion debt? Social Security and Medicare are funded separately and should not be considered part of the general operating budget. I want to protect and preserve these programs for our Senior Citizens which they have earned and so richly deserve. I want to remove the Government Pension Offset that cheats Senior Citizens out of sixty percent of their earned Social Security income. Furthermore, I want to end the practice of taxing Social Security benefits for income tax purposes since participants have to pay income tax on their contributions beforehand. I believe non-essential subsidies, like the $4 billion of taxpayers' money given to oil companies each year, need to be stopped. We cannot afford them and they don't need them. I want every American to have Health Care, tax credits for Clean Energy, a fair tax system and tax breaks for the Middle Class. I want a simplified tax code that is fair and equitable for all. Your congressmen have expanded the IRS TAX CODE to over 17,000 pages, filled with loopholes, due to politicians catering to corporations and to lobbyists. Some congressmen have even gone so far as to let the lobbyists write their bills! It is time for government to be put back into the hands of the taxpayers and for democracy to prevail which is why I prefer a flat 15 percent income tax with no deductions. I believe the number one problem facing our Nation right now is the economy and jobs. I want to see more in-sourcing and less outsourcing. I support the expansion of job creation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and across the Nation. I also support workers' choice to organize to improve benefits and safety. Plus, I have a plan which can cut unemployment in half by 2016 which will put more Americans back to work. Putting more workers to work will help to take people off of welfare rolls and will provide more tax revenue to help balance the budget. I want to hold Wall Street and Big Money interests accountable for their actions and to protect financial reform. I know what is wrong with education today and how to fix it. I want to safeguard our borders and to educate the public on how to guard against terrorism. I intend to see that current laws regarding illegal immigration are enforced. I don't think people on the no-fly list should be allowed to take pilot training. In addition, I support giving illegal immigrants already in this country an opportunity to register for legal status without punishment, given time restraints. I want to ensure Americans are not discriminated against based upon their race, religion, sex or gender orientation. As a holder of two Honorable Discharges, I support our men and women in uniform and, especially, veterans. I object to sending our troops to war without a Declaration of War. The last time Congress issued a Declaration of War was World War II; and, yet, our men and women have died in wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan with no Declaration of War. I believe the U.S. should not be engaging in warfare solely to protect economic interests abroad. Rather, we should engage in protecting our interests here at home. I support thorough background checks for gun purchasers and a ban on assault weapons. A person doesn't need an AK-47 or a rocket propelled grenade weapon for game hunting. I am a strong advocate for protecting our environment as clean air and clean water are essential to our good health. I also support funding for our failing infrastructure, such as bridges and dams, but am against using federal monies for toll roads. I also want to stop Global Warming. The U.S., China, and India were the only countries to not sign the Global Warming Treaty. And now, Canada recently withdrew from the Treaty. It is hypocritical for the U.S. to endorse energy saving measures when it won't even join the rest of the world in the Global Warming Treaty. I have plans which can bring peace in the Middle East and to end the world's water shortage that is causing starvation in many countries. I support the "No Budget, No Pay" proposal for all congressmen and believe U.S. Congressmen should not be receiving pay raises until the 16 trillion dollars Federal Debt has been retired! Furthermore, I am advocate for two-term limits for ALL politicians. I believe this is the next best way for Americans to regain their voice in their Government, next to supporting candidates, like myself, who support term limits. As it stands now, career politicians in Congress represent their big backers and not the majority of Americans and have exempted themselves from laws that pertain to the rest of us. Until we rid ourselves of career politicians, the only time the majority of Americans can be heard is on Election Day! In my opinion, any politician who has served three consecutive terms in the same office has served one term too long." BE AMERICAN -- BUY AMERICAN -- SAVE AMERICA -- SUPPORT ED LINDSAY
| Why Vote For Ed Lindsay: | |
| Ed Lindsay says, "I want to bring America from the brink of bankruptcy to the brink of prosperity. Every issue listed above is what I hope to resolve when in Congress.
It is important to preserve our Democracy and to deprive special interests of stealing our representation in Congress. Career politicians have stubbornly followed failed economic policies and are tied to special interests, not to the American people, which is why Washington, DC, is in the mess that it is today. Neither Republicans nor Democrats are doing what is best for our country. All we get from them is campaign rhetoric which is a political term for a lie; and it is time for this practice to stop. I went to elementary school in Grand Prairie, Texas, have two daughters who live in the DFW area, and have a brother-in-law who lives in Arlington; and I live in East Fort Worth. This just about covers District 33. I do not consider myself to be a politician. Rather, I am a statesman whose only interest is doing what is best for my country. my countrymen and my fellow Texans. If you want REAL CHANGE in government, if you want to stop this nonsense in Washington, DC, if you want our government placed on a sound financial basis, if you want to see ethics restored in the political arena, if you agree with the important issues which I believe in, and if you want to see the future of this country preserved for you, your children and your grandchildren, then it is imperative that YOU tell your friends and neighbors in District 33 to vote for me on November 6th! Finally, since I don't accept corporate money, I NEED your financial support if I am going to defeat the corporate interests that have ruled our Congress for decades."
