|I received my undergraduate degree in Healthcare Management from the Bellevue University in Nebraska, my graduate degree in Nonprofit Management from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, while pursuing concurrent graduate studies degree at the Texas Woman's University in Family Studies. My work experience includes several years as an accountant for the skilled nursing facility and hospice industries. These and other issues affect how our children function both at school and at home. In addition, the steadily dwindling and disproportionately disbursed state funding that once sustained our local public schools creates conditions in the schools which affect student performance, behaviors and ability to successfully complete school and increasingly sets our youth up for failure within the schooling system.
The Justice of the Peace’s priority is to adjudicate the individual cases brought before the court fairly and impartially, and to offer the youth and their families workable and empowering solutions to help avoid the “school-to-prison pipeline” that so many of our marginalized youth face today.
Secondly, families are increasingly facing affordable housing challenges, home foreclosures, evictions, and homelessness that directly impact the child's ability to succeed in school and the parents’ resolve to retain their much needed jobs. The goal is to not only to reach an effective and fair decision for all parties involved but also to provide the helpful resources that we, as a responsible society, should provide to help those in need secure safe shelter and to build better lives for all.
