The story: Just before the 2007 election, I saw on the web site of the Green Party of the US the list of all the Greens running for office.  I was shocked to see how many candidates did not have a web site or where using free sites that include unwanted advertising.  Because of the critical importance of a web site for recognition and credibility, I had an idea to offer a free web page to Greens running for office.

What I am offering in a nutshell:
  • free web presence
  • free email
  • free blog
  • free guest book
  • free online calendar
  • free Town Hall style questions & answers
  • free visitor counter
  • free custom banner links
You may use any or all of the services I offer.

The details: Even if you do not have any computer knowledge, you can set up your own web page and maintain it on this site.  We ask simple questions and can take care of making the page look right.  If you have knowledge of web design, you can make your own custom page.

If you need an email account, you can have one with your own email.  You will be able to access it through the web world-wide, or using your email program on your computer.  We can even set up your email to be automatically forwarded to your personal email if you would prefer.

Our latest additions include a guest book.  This is where your visitors can interact with you and leave messages.  It is spam protected, and you can monitor and delete objectionable posts.  There is an online calendar where you can promote upcoming events in your campaign or events you support.  There is a "Town Hall" page where visitors can ask you questions and you offer answers.  We also offer a page counter.  You can see how many people have been visiting your page.  You can also let people link to you with customized picture.  You edit the text and get people to add a link to your site, and you can reach more people.

A blog, or regularly updated informative log, is a great way to keep people coming back to your site.  You can have your own blog on this site.

If you are designing your web site on your own and have a technical support question, let me know, I would be glad to offer any assistance that I can.

About Me

My name is Matt Cleveland.  I have been a Green for a long time, but was only marginally active - especially after my son was born in 2004.  However, when the Democrats attacked the legitimacy of the Green Party in Pennsylvania in 2006 election, I went to help out with signature validation for the court case.  What I found was that the Democrats who were there, and the case behind them, do not believe in democracy.  They were spending countless dollars on preventing another political party from gaining access to the ballot.  One Democrat told me directly that they were doing this because they felt that Greens would vote Democrat if they HAD NO CHOICE.  They didn't appeal to the 60% of voters who were not inspired enough to vote in a typical election.  They didn't appeal to the registered Democrats who voted Republican.  They wanted to limit the choice of a small group of people who were not Democrats and did not want to vote for Democrats.

That was eye opening for me.  Since then, I have volunteered to run the web site for the Berks County Green Party, Jennaro Pullano who ran for mayor of Reading, PA, and the committee to host the 2007 GPUS National Meeting in Reading, PA.  I still do not have lots of free time with a three year old running around, but I can work from home on web sites for the Green Party.  Which I do.

I am volunteering to update the GPUS' online database of Green Candidates.  You can also find a link to us on the Green Senatorial Campaign Committee web site.

The following candidates consider New Menu their official web site: I am the webmaster for:
I am the owner of a recycled paper greeting card company
My main business, Occasions Disc Jockeys is a member of the Co-Op America's Business Network and Suquehanna Sustainable Business Network.

And just once, I'd like to see a news story that reads, "...because the Democrats are siphoning votes from the Green Party Challenger."

Please remember, this is a site aimed at the candidate with no web site, no budget, and no technical support.  It is very simple, and requires no money nor knowledge of web design.  If you want a multi-media, video, forum, email lists, etc. web site, that is not what I am offering.  However, I still want all Green campaigns listed on this site.  I will also have a link to your official site and your state party site when you sign up to be included in the directory.

There will be no advertising on your page.  There is a link to supporters and Green parties that want a reciprocal link.

Any Green recognized by the GPUS will be included, regardless of platform.

You will have password protected access to your page.
